VC Associate

FIRM DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a $2bn+ venture growth firm that (within the past 10 years) spun out from one of the oldest and largest global VC firms. They have backed a diverse set of growth-stage & early stage technology companies with a strong focus in SaaS and Fintech. The fund also partners with other venture capital firms on curated portfolio acquisitions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: This global firm is seeking an Associate/Investor to join its Bay Area office (for an immediate through summer 2025 start). Associates will work on all phases of the investment process, in a generalist capacity (SaaS and fintech), on mid-to-growth stage opportunities.

Specific responsibilities include: 

- Sourcing new investment opportunities through deep thematic research and relationships with leading private companies, as well as top-tier VC firms

- Executing due diligence on prospective investments (including business analysis, industry thesis, competitive landscape, business model evaluation, financial modeling and deal structuring) as well as portfolios of investments

• Working in a strategic and operational capacity with the firm's portfolio companies

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: 

- At least two years of full time experience from a top tier investment bank and/or venture capital or growth equity firm. Technology, Software, Internet, M&A, financial sponsors, and principal investing experience is highly valued.

- Our client is open to candidates with equivalent experience in strategy consulting, but such candidates must be able to demonstrate facility with core financial analysis tasks such as building a financial model

- Track record of academic and professional success 

- Obvious team player; all eventual references should be able to speak enthusiastically of a candidate's ability to thrive within a team setting

- Passion for emerging technologies and a long-term career in technology, and working in a highly entrepreneurial environment

- Enthusiasm to work in a start-up environment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

- Technical degree such as CS, EE, or chemistry / materials science

COMPENSATION: $125,000 - $175,000 Base Salary Range

START DATE: Immediate through Summer 2025

LOCATION: Bay Area (Peninsula) 

WORK AUTHORIZATION: Candidates must already be authorized to work in the US
